Daulaires Book of Greek Myths.
This classic book is intended for children, but it is still one of my favorites. When possible,
the most positive versions of each myth are used. Beautiful illustrations, complement this treasure
of a book. I read this book as a child and re-read it several times as an adult and it has yet to loose it's charm.
This is one of my most beloved books. I highly recommend this book for children!
Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes
This book by Edith Hamilton features outstanding versions of the classic stories. Edith discusses the
authors who have left us the legacy of these tales. I read most of this book in college in between classes and I didn't put it down until my ecology professor started speaking.
Edith makes readable and exciting, stories such as the Iliad,
which when read in it's original form is quite a chore! No offense, Homer.
Bulfinch's Mythology This collection of works by Thomas Bulfinch, a 19th century scholar, has become one of the most influential texts on Greek Mythology. Many of the stories told on this website are based on this work. Although Bulfinch tended to leave long winded translations of dialogue in his work,
and his English is a bit antiquated, Bulfinch's Mythology is still an enjoyable read and an excellent addition to any library.
