Portable Applications
Portable Applications come in handy at work. You can put them on a thumbdrive or a cd and use them at work and home without installing anything or leaving a harddrive full of your stuff at work.
Not all applications can be made portable, but some will run just fine from a cd. Look for applications that do not store infomation in the registry, and keep their configuration files in their own directory.
Thumbdrives come in handy because you can write data to them, but cd’s are much cheaper and easy to replace. Plus, they look a little less conspicuous if you are worried about that. And if your usb ports are hard to get to, a cd makes life easier.
